ZOMBIE’S T-DRAMA REVIEW: Someone Like You Episode 19

pity party

You know, there’s really only one thing I want to do after watching this week’s episode and that is to SCREAM MY FLIPPING HEAD OFF! Seriously, this show has me so unbelievably upset I want to go on a full-on Godzilla-inspired rampage around my living room. And why am I this upset when we only have one episode of this drama left? Well, let’s talk about this episode and see if we can’t figure this out. Shall we?we never broke up

So last week we left Yu Xi bawling her eyes out and she begs Zhan Cheng not to leave her. After finally realizing all of her stupid reasons for leaving Zhan Cheng were, in fact, STUPID, she begs him to stay and for half a second we thought it might have been too late. However, Zhan Cheng really is the Mr. Darcy of the Dramaverse and he’s never as far away as we think he is. Popping up out of nowhere, Zhan Cheng wraps his arms around Yu Xi and informs her that he’s never going anywhere so she’d better promise to do the same. I can’t say I was all that choked up over this reunion because we knew this was the way things were going to go. I was mostly happy Yu Xi has finally given up on her stupid ideas to abandon Zhan Cheng and realize he’s far too good of a man to let go just because she foolishly thinks this is what everyone wants. (Even though everyone in the entire world already told her REPEATEDLY that they wanted nothing but happiness for her and Zhan Cheng.) Isn’t it nice when your drama heroine finally gets a clue?

happy family

With Zhan Cheng and Yu Xi happily back together, and only one more episode left until the end, it’s time for everyone else in this story to find their own version of “happily ever after” and the next couple on that list was none other than Yu An and Fei Fei. Yes, it seems in the time that has passed since Fei Fei announced her departure and actually started back down the mountain, Yu An decided she really was the girl for him and in the most bold move of his entire drama appearance, he went after Fei Fei, forced the cable car operator to bring the car back up the mountain and then asked Fei Fei to stay. Of course she had no hesitation whatsoever in her enthusiastic response and I honestly can’t decide if I like this pairing or not. It seems like Show is trying really hard to convince us that Yu An really does have feelings for Fei Fei but because he’s a quiet and reserved person, he doesn’t do a very good job of showing how he truly feels. For my own sanity’s sake, I shall try to convince myself that this is really true and Yu An really does have feelings for Fei Fei and he’s not just asking her to stay because it’s what his mom wants. I’m not sure how well I can convince myself of this when Yu An is about as reactive as a dead fish but I will try; mostly because I have enough bones to pick with Show at the moment and I really don’t need another.

won't stop you

That being said, I think it’s time to talk about what really has me stomping around my house like a raving lunatic. Anyone care to guess what I’m so upset over? Anyone? Anyone? If you said Bo Yan and/or Vanessa then you’d be right! (Woohoo!) To be perfectly honest, I’m so upset at the moment I don’t even know where to start but I think we’ll start with Vanessa. It’s no secret I’ve been upset with Vanessa for quite a while now, mostly because she’s harbored a ridiculous crush on the slime-ball Bo Yan. After all the times Bo Yan has proved his a complete hoser, Vanessa has chosen to put her faith in him and not just when it comes to business. This week Vanessa invites Bo Yan to become a part of her life, once the baby is born and I was just so not okay with that. Bo Yan has made it clear from the very beginning that he wanted nothing to do with Vanessa and her baby and I’m sorry but one scene with him smiling at a father and son does not rectify his mountain of wrongs. I don’t care how sappy and emotional Vanessa may be as a pregnant woman, her brain should be screaming at her to run as far away from this punk as possible. Sadly, Vanessa does the exact opposite and stays by Bo Yan’s side in his most dire hour, blubbering away about how wonderful life will be, just the three of them and… AUGH! (Sorry! Apparently I’m not over this week’s shenanigans just yet.)

SO MUCH DRAMA

So let’s talk a little bit about Bo Yan, shall we? Because obviously I have a whole lot to say about this idiot and I’m to totally pissed at Show for what it tried to do to me this week. I have spent the past eighteen weeks loathing Bo Yan with every fiber of my being, wishing nothing but horrible things for him from pretty much the very first episode. So, you can imagine my frustration when Show suddenly decides to give Bo Yan a heart and turn him into a man to be pitied. I’m sorry Show but you just can’t do that! Especially not when you spend a good majority of this week’s episode demonstrating just how big of a loser Bo Yan really is. He’s the one who’s responsible for all of his business failings. He’s the one who is constantly egging William on. He’s the one who put Vanessa in danger, trying to pick a fight with William and Zhan Cheng while Vanessa is standing right there. So naturally, he’s the one who thinks (as always) that the world is unjust and he because of that he has some sort of right to go out there and make life miserable for everyone else because apparently if he can’t be happy, no one is allowed to be happy. So, with this sort of warped mindset and a whole episode of crazy stupid on Bo Yan’s part, Show decided to try to give him a heart and make us believe he’s not really a bad person, just misunderstood, and I’M SO NOT OKAY WITH THAT! When I’m made to loathe a villain for nineteen episodes, you’d better just keep that stupid character evil so that when something I’m been wishing would happen for WEEKS finally happens, I can actually enjoy the flipping moment! YES! I WANTED BO YAN TO DIE A THOUSAND SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATHS! But I didn’t want him to show just enough of a streak of humanity to make me waver in my loathing of him first! I wanted to enjoy Bo Yan’s suffering to the bitter end and walk away from this show with a wonderful feeling of satisfaction. Instead, I’ve got my wish for Bo Yan’s death but I feel nothing but upset over it! CURSE YOU SHOW! CURSE YOU!

waiting for Yu Xi

I obviously need to stop talking about Bo Yan and move on but since there’s nothing happy to talk about, I should probably just wrap this up. I find it rather ridiculous that with one episode left, Yu Xi is in a coma, Ya Ti is recovering from a second heart transplant (and I didn’t even get to talk about all the crazy of that heart attack scene), Bo Yan is dead, Vanessa is left to raise her baby alone and Zhan Cheng is once again wallowing in self-pity as he watches over his comatose love. It seems to me there’s a whole lot left to be resolved and not a lot of time left to get it done. This final episode had better give me the happy ending I’ve been hoping for and stop messing with my emotions! Is that really too much to ask?

happy mom

So tell me, what did you think of this week’s episode? Were you surprised by any of this week’s events or did you see all of this coming? How do you feel about Bo Yan? This week he proved he’s the scummiest of scum and yet he still had a moment of humanity just human-y enough to make me feel completely frustrated by his demise. Am I the only one feeling this way? Is anyone worried about how this show is going to wrap up? You know I always love hearing from you so be sure to let me know what you’re thinking by leaving me a comment below!

  1. You’re not alone. T-T I hated Bo Yan for 19 weeks for all his wrongdoings and his mistreatment to Yu Xi like you right from the start but this drama threw in such a twist nearing its end. I hate to say this but I actually shed tears when he drove right in between Yu Xi’s car and the huge truck to lessen the impact for Yu Xi. Argh!

    1. I’m so glad I’m not alone in my frustration! After hating Bo Yan for so long, the last thing I wanted was to shed tears over his death! I wanted to party, not sob! Grrr! Show! Stop messing with us like this!

  2. Hmm…yea this episode was a little wacky. It didn’t make a lot of sense. It seemed like everything was being rushed with no good reason behind it. Maybe the last episode will make up for it, and be just as good in content as the first episode. The least they can do is have YX hurry and wake up, then give us some sugar sweet moments again!

    1. I’m really hoping the last episode makes up for this one but for some reason, I don’t have much hope. I want a happily ever after but if Yu Xi wakes up from this coma with amnesia… Oh! I don’t even want to think about it! C’mon Show! Give us something good in the end! Please!

  3. Can someone give me the contact information of this writer…to slap some senses into their work. Wtf. Bo Yan death should not be matyred. I wanted him to suffer…not die…arghhhhhhhhh show has denied that privilege to see a ridiculous character die peacefully. We don’t know his drI’ve for his stupidity…no back srory. Nothing, except he wants to destroy ZHan Cheng. I’m not happy whatsoever with this and no amount of cuteness at the end of this show will change that.

Really show really. You just had to put Yu Xi in coma after giving us episodes of seeing her acting stupid, not playing a nobe idiot, just plain old stupid. I’m really not happy with the way this show went. I usually don’t insult characters as I try to reason with them and try to.play an advocate for thwit craziness, but this case is differEnt. this show is so flipping off as everything is ridiculous. From Yu An renouncing his calLing to FeI FeI being boy hungry for a guy whose feeling is as dead as a fish as you have stated perfectly. To Ya TI survivin the heart attack episode to a.comatose Yu Xi. I tell u the only sane person is Z.C and dude NOW IS THE TIME TO RUN AWAY BEFORE MS. UNDECIDED WAKES UP and cries her heart out saying she doesn’t remember you and she lost her one true love Bo Yan who died for hEr to live.

Hehe thanks for your lovely recaps as I read it before I get see a subbed episode.

Argghh. More rants on this later aigooyobo.wordpress.com

    1. If Yu Xi wakes up from this coma with amnesia, I’m going to throw my computer across the room! There had better be some sort of sense coming out of this mess of crazy and a super happy ending. I think we deserve at least that much, just for putting up with these last few weeks of nonsense!

  4. I’m with you, I was not convinced that Bo Yan would sacrifice himself for Yu Xi or anyone being the selfish person that he has always been.

Another thing that bothered me was that if they already planned to make Bo Yan die to save Yu Xi why make her fall in coma? It just take away unnecessary screentime from the drama and the couple.

I’m alos hoping that the ending won’t disappoint but I’m afraid we won’t be getting much sweetness from the couple because there’s still some couples and people that haven’t gotten their closure yet and from the looks of it I don’t even think we will be getting any official wedding but just a kind of ceremony while Yu Xi is still in coma because I spotted wedding bands on Yu Xi and Zhan Cheng’s ring finger in the preview.

    1. There was a whole lot of unnecessary this week and I honestly can’t figure out why the writers thought this was necessary. We have one episode left. We need closure and happy endings, not nonsensical comas and death! If we don’t get any sort of happy wedding or at least a good allusion to such a happy event, I’m going to cry. We need some sort of happy ending to close out all this madness!

  5. Bo Yan’s actions the past couple of episodes (with Yu Xi, that is) are just so nonsensical. So, Yu Xi is the only person who can make him forget his narcissistic self, self-sacrificing now? It doesn’t tie up with the Bo Yan that they portrayed for the duration of the drama. Oh Well! I’ll be honest, I skipped all of Yu An and Fei Fei’s scenes, their relationship I can classify as in-between. They don’t give off the innocent and pure vibe you usually see on young love, but they’re also not the going to the mature kind of love. I don’t find them cute or engaging as is, maybe because both are so not ready to have any form of relationship. And side note, Ya Ti during the heart attack scene, she looked like she was giving birth. And her having Bo Yan’s heart, it should be too far-fetch, what with them being so different- built-wise.

    1. Hehe I know exactly what you mean, I thought Ya Ti was going into labour too! Though I was cringing at the thought that they may give Ya Ti YuXi’s heart as a result of the accident to wrap up the struggles between the two, which I think would have done it for me, My love affair with Show would have ended right then and there. I will pretend I didn’t see BoYan smile at Yuxi before he drove in her way, I refuse to feel a shred of sympathy or sadness over BoYan’s demise, I just can’t deny myself that justice after waiting so long!! This show started with so much promise, what the heck happened?!

This may be completely off but my only guess as to why Show has Yuxi in a coma is to mirror ZC’s time when he was blind which ties in with the title of hearing happiness? Where she is in a coma but aware of what is going on around her and therefore hears all this love and happiness awaiting her?? IDK

but seriously what the heck if ZC marries Yuxi while she is out cold, that is so wrong on so many levels! If they were engaged I may, MAY, overlook it but FFS they are only dating and not for very long at that, don’t care how McDreamy he is, thats just creepy and violates her rights to decide for herself… Plus when she wakes up won’t that be an awkward conversation?? “You know while you were lying there deciding if you wanted to move back in with your maker? I kinda decided for us and we sorta got married”. So shoulda stopped many episodes earlier when they got together and BoYan got fired. The world was peachy perfect then.

      1. I’ve said it before, even though the show’s narrative can be exasperating at times, one good thing it has going for it is that viewers would have a lot to talk about after each episode. I guess, no matter how frustrated I can be with the previous episode I still can’t wait to see the next one. The heart loves what it loves! On to the wedding, I didn’t react at first when I saw the preview coz the logical part of me wants to believe that it’s only symbolical, but I guess it’s real. But then again, wouldn’t that make their marriage null and void, as one party is unable to give consent? Oh well!
