Substituting reason for madness seems to be the new theme of Fall in Love With Me and I’m so beyond flipping tables that all I can do is yell profusely at my computer as I watch this drama disappear in a giant mushroom cloud of crazy.
Picking up right where we left off, Huan Huan is stuck in the middle of the street as an oncoming truck comes barreling down the road and wouldn’t you know it, Leo jumps in at the last second but if he was attempting to save her, he failed miserably. Sorry Leo but if you’re going to rescue someone from oncoming traffic, you’re going to have to do more than wrap your arms around her as the truck comes, screeching, to a halt mere inches from her face. How lame! If Leo was trying to be a hero, he failed and if he was hoping this might be a chance to uncover the truth about Huan Huan’s condition, he really failed. Talk about an anti-climactic scene! Ugh! If I were to be benevolent, I suppose I could say that Leo’s suspicions on Huan Huan’s account were fueled a bit by this moment of stupidity but they weren’t confirmed and therefore I see this whole scene as nothing but a waste of time.
It would have been nice if Huan Huan had been able to jump up out of her wheelchair and run to safety because then Leo would have had an eye-witness account of Huan Huan’s recovery, which would have been vital when backing up Tian Xing as he confronted Huan Huan and her family at the engagement ceremony. As it was, all Tian Xing had, when confronting the Li Family, was a photo of Huan Huan standing up and a whole lot of frustration as they all denied every using Huan Huan’s condition as a means of trapping Tian Xing into a marriage he doesn’t want. When Huan Huan suggested Tian Xing take her to any doctor in town, to have herself examined, I was almost expecting to find out she’d personally bribed every physician in Taipei to say she was doomed but it turns out she’s really an idiot who has been neglecting her treatment, just so she could prove her case to Tian Xing. Talk about a moron! Sorry but what person, in their right mind, would give up their chance at getting better, just to be with a person who doesn’t love them? That’s the lamest thing I’ve ever heard and I want nothing more than to be able to reach through my computer and slap some sense into Huan Huan because, seriously, someone needs to! That girl needs some serious intervention and not just because she’s skipping physical therapy and her daily medications. Huan Huan is sick and she needs help. Now.
At least Tian Xing can see how serious Huan Huan’s mental condition is and he’s doing everything he can to talk some sense into Auntie, on Huan Huan’s behalf but (big surprise) it’s not working. All Auntie can see is that she’s losing her grip on Tian Xing and she’s too upset about not getting her way to see that everything Tian Xing is saying is true. Both Lance and Auntie have noticed the change in Huan Huan’s behavior and personality and though Auntie seems a bit concerned, Lance sees it as a vast improvement and applauds her for it. It’s this lack of concern for their own that has driven Huan Huan to take such drastic measures. Everyone in the Li family has been so focused on getting Tian Xing back and forcing him to bend to their will, they’ve never stopped to consider that the methods they’re using (namely Huan Huan’s injury) may have a negative effect on their lives for a very long time. I mean what if Huan Huan’s refusal of treatment really does confine her to a wheelchair for the rest of her life? Will Auntie and Lance be willing to shoulder that responsibility forever? Will they be able to handle the guilt that’s sure to come? Will Huan Huan be able to live with herself after the gravity of her decisions sinks in and she faces a lifetime of regret? Pretty sure if Huan Huan is desperate enough to attempt suicide on Tian Xing’s behalf, she’s not going to think twice about trying it again, at least not when the reality of her situation finally sinks in.
I think what surprised me the most this week is Tian Xing’s ability to overlook everything, at least to an extent, and still look out for the Li family. He’s far more generous than I as, after that whole debacle at the engagement ceremony, I would have been like, “See ya!” and never looked back. Showing up a couple of days later to take Huan Huan to physical therapy and having a rational discussion with Auntie is just too much goodness for me to comprehend. I guess this is why Tian Xing is the hero and I am nothing more than a fly on the wall… I can see, hear and flip tables to my heart’s content while Tian Xing demonstrates to us all that he’s a far better person than I will ever be. Ha!
Where Auntie and Lance have kind of gone off the deep end, Mama and Papa Tao have stepped up to prove they are pretty much the most amazing parents ever. Not only were they infuriated by the treatment Le Si and Tian Xing have been getting from the Li Family, they’ve finally decided to step up and do whatever they can to ensure their daughter’s happiness in, what I think, is the best way possible. After confronting Tian Xing about his true feelings for Le Si and getting an answer that satisfies them in every way, Mama Tao did one of the most courageous and selfless acts I’ve ever witnessed in Drama Land and asks Tian Xing to take Le Si with him. Now, does this mean Mama Tao is asking Tian Xing to take Le Si and run away? I’m not really sure but it certainly seems that way (though I admit, this interpretation could be very biased by the fact that running away is exactly what I’d like to see Tian Xing and Le Si do). I suppose we’ll just have to find out next week what Mama Tao really means but for now, I’m going to go with this and hope that Tian Xing takes her up on the offer. Sorry but I just don’t see any other way for Tian Xing and Le Si to get out from under the Li Family’s tyrannical rule.
So tell me, what did you think of this week’s episodes of Fall in Love With Me? What did you love? What did you hate? What do you think is going to happen next? Will Auntie ever accept that her actions are what has driven Huan Huan to such desperation? Will she ever admit Tian Xing that everything Tian Xing said to her was true? If she does accept what he’s said, will she ever do anything to make amends? Is Huan Huan really going crazy? Is there ever going to be a time when she thinks about anyone other than herself? Will she ever see than Tian Xing has never loved her as anything but a sister? Will she ever stop being the spoiled, selfish brat that she is? What about everything Mama and Papa Tao said to Tian Xing? Did Mama Tao really just ask Tian Xing to run away with Le Si or is there more to this conversation that we’ll hear next week? As always, I want to know what you’re thinking so be sure to leave me a comment below!

Wahoo ~ Another review! “Sorry Leo but if you’re going to rescue someone from oncoming traffic, you’re going to have to do more than wrap your arms around her as the truck comes, screeching, to a halt mere inches from her face.” Big LOL. I thought the same thing. This is how you save a girl? No way? Maybe Huan Huan should just get up and save Leo instead. Leo disappointed me. Tian Xing figured out Huan Huan’s situation without needing Leo’s help and Leo didn’t do anything to expose Huan Huan at all because Tian Xing confronted Huan Huan directly. Leo uselessly joined Tian Ji for nothing. Also, it doesn’t surprise me anymore that they exploit Huan Huan and Tian Xing’s engagement for another Oz/Tian Ji advertisement.
Yes, the smile that Huan Huan gave when she said that she was grateful that she was the one who fell off the cliff instead of Le Si just sent serious shivers down my spine. That’s really diabolical and crazy. I can’t believe Huan Huan can be happy wearing a wedding dress in a wheelchair. What’s the point? By the way, it didn’t even look good on her. I’m holding on to plan B, which is Tian Xing finding out where Huan Huan has been storing her pills. He almost did anyway. The stunned expressions on Lance and Huan Huan’s mother’s face was priceless when Huan Huan thinks it’s no big deal to be in a wheelchair forever. So, apparently, their plan was to deceive Tian Xing all along, but help Huan Huan secretly get better along the way. Or at least, that was Huan Huan’s mother’s plan. All I can remember from Lance is that he told Huan Huan not to walk again, but he was surprised to see that Huan Huan is really not walking again, which is a weird reaction since he should be expecting that to happen. Tian Xing was so mature this week that he’s almost the perfect man. He really sat down and tried to reason with Huan Huan’s mother. He probably really believed that the Li family was an extension of his own family in his heart. It’s hard to just break ties with people who are considered family. I think Li Mama realizes that Tian Xing is right, but she’s not ready to admit it. I’ll give her some time when she realizes how messed up Huan Huan is becoming. It seems to me that everyone is hurting themselves. By the end of the drama, I was thinking, Zombie Mamma gets what she wants: a runaway scenario! I was surprised! Good try, but I could never see that working out right now. There’s too much going on. But, I would love to see a couple episodes where they actually do runaway and have some awesome times before they get caught or forced to come back. The look on Huan Huan’s face when Tian Xing never shows up to the wedding: priceless! Something majorly dramatic will have to happen for our couple to make their return though. Or will Tian Xing become Xiao Lu? Hahaha. Never a dull moment, I’d say!
There’s certainly a lot going on and I have to admit, it’s a bit difficult for me to see where all of this is going. As much as I’d love to see Tian Xing and Le Si run away, I know that’s not really going to happen. How could it? It goes against pretty much every Drama Land rule ever made and well, we can’t have that! It would be nice though, having our leads run off together, starting a new life as far away from the crazy as possible. It would certainly be the easiest thing for them to do and probably the most productive but again, that goes again all drama norms so it’s the least likely thing to happen. Instead, I see Le Si and Tian Xing sticking around, taking all kinds of abuse from the Li Family and foolishly hoping that everything will be alright, as long as they love each other. (What a load of crap!) Sometimes you’ve got to stand up for yourself and say, “Enough’s enough!” I was so hoping this would be the week when Tian Xing did just that but alas, his efforts were in vain. I applaud him for confronting the Li Family but a part of me thinks his efforts were a bit hasty and kinda halfhearted. If he’d really wanted to make Huan Huan stand up, he should have found a way to get her out of her chair in front of everyone so that there would be no denying she’s been lying this entire time. That would have been a nice scenario anyway. As it is, we’re all now wondering just how crazy Huan Huan is becoming and how much more crazy she’s going to get before her family realizes that they’ve created a monster. I’m still hoping for Karma to come around and bite the Li Family in the backside for this one. They deserve it.
As for Huan Huan’s secret stash of pills, I’m wondering if maybe Tian Xing won’t ask Uncle Fu to do a little investigating, especially when it comes to Huan Huan and perhaps he’ll be the one to stumble upon the pills. Here’s a thought though… What if Mama Li were the one to stumble upon the pill collection? That seems to be a more dramatic option and it would certainly be a wake-up call for her. If she were to fully comprehend what her instructions were to Huan Huan really meant, perhaps she’d feel a bit of remorse and try to undo all of this awfulness that she’s done. Something dramatic is going to have to happen for her to admit her mistakes. Could this possibly be it?
I thought most of the episode wasted our time. HuanHuan’s mind has deteriorated to the point that she has a psychosomatic illness, and she has become completely irrational. She’s going to harm someone. (Let’s hope they don’t keep any loaded weapons in the house.)
The way Le Si cowtows to the diabolical Li family is unreal. Why go off with the crazy, threatening auntie all by yourself? Am I the only one who finds this strange? Run away!!!
Lastly, the final scene confused me. I watched it on viki and dramafever to see if tone of he translations was any more clear than the other. I think Le Si’s mom is asking him to run away with her daughter. I think, but I’m not sure. I wanted to scream “Run for your lives!! The Li’s are scary people and you need to get far away as quickly as possible.”
This needs to wrap up soon. I don’t even care anymore if a HuanHuan gets help, if Lance can redeem himself, or auntie realizes she raised two sociopaths. And Leo’s kind of help is ridiculous. Dragging Le Si to a huge engagement party and expecting her to conduct herself professionally is disgusting. That’s not love at all.
Okay. I think I’m done ranting. How many more episodes? I think I may be able to hang in there for one or two more but I’m getting tired…
I think you’re right about the final scene. It certainly seems to me that Mama Tao is asking Tian Xing to take Le Si and run as far away as possible and if that’s the case, I say, “Way to go mama!” I think Mama Tao understands that going up against the likes of the Li Family is going to be detrimental to everyone involved and I think she’s wise enough to realize that there are some times when running away is certainly the better option. In my opinion, this would be one of those times! Like you said, “Run away!” is the way to go!
I agree with you about Leo dragging Le Si (and the rest of the OZ staff, for that matter) to the engagement party. What a hardhearted thing to do! I get that Leo’s trying to play a part to uncover the truth about Huan Huan and maybe even reveal some sort of plot Lance is cooking up but there’s no reason for him to drag everyone else into his plan. To expect any of the OZ staff to be professional when it comes to Huan Huan’s engagement is just ridiculous. There are some times when you can’t separate business from personal matters and this is certainly one of them. Tian Ji and the Li Family are one and the same and they’re doing everything in their power to bring down OZ and Le Si so why does anyone at OZ have to pretend that everything is fine when it’s not? It doesn’t make sense and I’d like to slap Leo for expecting so much from Le Si. She’s only human, after all, and is going through so much already, why make her suffer even more? It just doesn’t make sense.
