ZOMBIE’S DRAMA REVIEW: Cheese in the Trap Episodes 5-6

I know I’m running a bit behind with this one so I’m gonna try to type really fast so I can get caught up. There was a whole lot of cute in these next two episodes and a whole lot of crazy as well. I guess such is the life of college students but it still kinda made my head spin. Or maybe that was just In Ho’s ridiculous cuteness getting to me. Hmmm…

We left off last week with Yoo Jung being all sorts of bent out of shape over Seol’s walking home with In Ho which led into another one of their confrontations. No surprise there. At least we’re slowly getting a glimpse of what happened between these two in the past and as the pieces come together my heart goes out more and more to both In Ho and his sister. I know we don’t have the whole story yet so how they got to the point they are now is still a bit of a mystery but we do know that their past hasn’t been an easy one and they’re both carrying around a lot of hurt.

It’s sad to me that In Ha has decided to make as little of her life as possible while In Ho seems to be at least trying to do something. What that something looks like in the long run is a bit of a mystery to me but for now he wants to find a way to be free from Yoo Jung’s family and find a way to support his sister. I’m afraid none of this is easy for him as he’s trying to run from this mysterious person who’s constantly pursuing him. I still can’t figure out who this person is nor can I figure out why In Ho is constantly running away from him. Is there some kind of debt there that needs to be paid? Is this a position Yoo Jung’s father set up for In Ho and he doesn’t want to accept it because it keeps him tied to a family he’d rather forget? I don’t know but it breaks my heart to see In Ho’s life falling apart just as it was starting to come together. Darn him and his noble act of heroism! Why does he have to be punished for saving Seol from that jerk-wad? I swear the laws of Dramaland are so messed up sometimes! *sigh*

While I’m mad at this jerk-wad for popping up out of nowhere to mess up In Ho’s life and cast a shadow of doubt over Seol’s current happiness with Yoo Jung, I’m also kinda happy he’s around. Not because I like the guy but because he’s brought with him another mystery that will shed some light onto Yoo Jung’s character as the story progresses. As much as I like Yoo Jung, there’s still something a bit off about him and I want to know what his real story is. He’s such a complicated, confusing mess of a character who wavers between utter sweetness to cruel and calculating, it’s hard to figure out who he really is.

I’m really hoping Seol can uncover the real Yoo Jung as I don’t think we’ve actually seen him yet. I think we’ve been close a time or two but there’s still more to him than what’s been shown so far. I think Seol has the ability to do the same with In Ho which is why I’m so sad about him leaving. There’s way too much story between these two left to be told and the only way it’s ever going to come out is when Seol is around. The best part of these two episodes was watching a drunk Seol stand up for herself and confront these two quarreling children about their behavior. If you ask me, they both need someone like Seol to smack them upside the head and tell them what’s what more often. This is why I’m hoping for more drunken bar conversations between these three in the future. Actually, you could throw In Ha in there as well and I think we’d get some real progress made in all four of these character’s character.

As much fun as it’s been to watch the relationship of these characters develop over school break, I’m ready for school to start again. Not because I want to see them stressed about school work but because there’s a different side to them that comes out once school starts and I want to see how that changes now that relationships have been established. Are more secrets going to come out about Yoo Jung now that people know he’s dating? Are there those out there who would like some sort of vindication? Will Seol become a victim? Well, we’ve already seen her the victim of jealousy once but will it happen again? My guess is yes, but maybe not by a girl this time. That creeper jerk seems pretty dead-set on screwing over both Yoo Jung and Seol. Why question is, how is he going to go about this? My other question is, how many people is he going to hurt along the way?

I have so many more questions I want to ask but since we’ve got new episodes out to watch already, I should probably wrap things up here and move on to the next. But before I go, I just have to ask one more thing: Is anyone else out there suffering from Second Lead Syndrome as badly as I am? Please tell me I’m not alone in this! Baek In Ho is everything I always fall for in a second male lead… He’s got a tragic past, he’s built up a tough exterior to mask his pain, he’s got this horribly wounded heart that wants to love and be loved but he’s too afraid to reach out and he’s too afraid to let anyone in, he’s had grand dreams and lost them, he’s trying to overcome life’s challenges but can’t, he’s got great hair and he’s so darn cute I forget everything whenever he’s around (including how to breathe). Yes, I have a horrible case of SLS and I know it’s going to bite me in the backside someday soon but I just can’t help myself. I always fall for these darn seconds and they always break my heart and the only thing I can do about it is sit back and sigh as these darn seconds carry away little pieces of my heart. *sigh* I guess it’s a good thing I’m a zombie, eh? Who needs a heart anyway? (haha)
