I have a feeling this week’s “Tune” selection is coming as a surprise to pretty much no one, seeing as how I’ve been singing the praises of Jun Hyung’s new single to anyone who would stop long enough to listen, since it was released on Tuesday. Still, I feel it’s my duty to sing those praises in as many ways as I can so here I go… Again.
Like I said in this week’s “Tuesday’s Tease” it’s been 4 years since Yong Jun Hyung has released a solo of any sort and I have spent every single one of those years lamenting this musical tragedy. If you scour the archives of this website, you’ll find that when Jun Hyung released his solo EP, Flower, back in 2013, I kind of had a fangirl meltdown. I fell in love with the title track immediately and spent a whole lot of time telling everyone I knew that they needed to stop everything they were doing and give that song (and the rest of the EP, for that matter) a listen. Fast-forward 4 years and here I am, doing the exact same thing. Go figure!
I wish I could pinpoint what it is, exactly, that makes me love Jun Hyung’s work so much. Maybe it’s the relate-ability of lyrics, or the fact that Jun Hyung wrote them himself. Maybe it’s the catchy-ness of both of this single’s tracks, or the fact that I can’t seem to get “Wonder If” out of my head. Or maybe it’s this darn lethal video and my weakness for beautiful profiles. It’s really hard to say. All I know is, I’ve fallen as hard for Wonder If as I did for Flower all these years ago and I’m so very, very happy that Jun Hyung is back, doing what he does best… Making fantastic music. *happy sigh*
So tell me, what do you think of Jun Hyung’s return to the solo world? Are you as happy with this new single as I am? Let me know in the comments below!
