You knew this was coming. I know you did. There’s no way VIXX could release a new track without me absolutely freaking out over it. I mean, without me making it this week’s “Tune.” Yeah… That’s it…
The question is, what is it I can say about this new track that doesn’t make me sound certifiably insane? I’m not sure I can start a discussion about VIXX’s new EP without breaking into serious fangirl mode. I’ve loved these boys for too long. I’ve been through too much to keep myself together for very long. So maybe I’ll just not even try with the objective nonsense and just let the fangirl do her thing. I mean, isn’t that what I do most of the time anyway?
There’s just one problem with me letting the fangirl take over. I can’t get 2 seconds into the song without feeling like my heart is going to explode. From the very first notes, my heart is stirred with all sorts of crazy, “OH MY GOSH I’M SO IN LOVE!” feelings and if I’m watching the MV while I’m listening? Just forget it. I swear, theses boys know exactly how, when and where to strike and they do it so darn well! How’s a Zombie supposed to survive such an assault? I mean seriously! They open this darn MV with frickin’ Leo sitting on that stupid rock being all LEO and I’m just… My heart just… My brain goes… AUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH! I can’t handle this much Leo in the morning! (Or any other time of day, for that matter.)
And then they have to go and pull out those darn fans and Leo’s still being all Leo and then Hyuk pops up and OH MY SWEET GRACIOUS! It’s an all-out attack from the lethal maknae! Little punk! Doesn’t he know those of us who’ve been around the longest still aren’t used to seeing him as anything but an adorably awkward puppy? Or maybe that’s just me… Sometimes my zombie brain has a hard time adjusting to babies who grow up to be noona killers. And I can’t even with Ravi. I just… NOPE! And how can anyone resist Hongbin? I mean seriously! He’s just… *swoon* And Ken is such a perfect flower boy and N’s dancing is just… *sigh*
I suppose I should talk more about this song than that actual MV. I mean if you wanted my reaction to this video, I should have just recorded one. But that’s not the point. The point is, “Shangri-La” is an absolutely fantastic song and one I’ve been playing non-stop since it was released earlier this week. It’s such a perfect track, full of all the smoldering, sultry, sexy goodness that is VIXX. Of course Ravi’s would be partially responsible for the heart-stopping, swoon-inducing lyrics. I swear, his lyrics will someday be the death of me. Just the way that he writes and the emotion he puts into them… *swoon*
If you haven’t had a chance to check out VIXX’s new mini album, you definitely should. Not only is “Shangri-La” a fantastic example of everything that makes VIXX great, but the rest of the album is equally great. Of course I’m heavily biased when it comes to VIXX so it may be best to check the album out for yourself. Once you do, you can come back here and tell me if my bias is clouding my judgment or you can just come back and we can squee over VIXX together. That works too.
