This week’s tune is one that has actually been out for a while but the video was only just released which means I have all the reason I need to make Taemin’s “Ace” my “Tune of the Week”.
As I’m sure many of you know, “Ace” is the title track for Taemin’s first solo mini-album, Ace, which was released on August 18. While the song itself isn’t new, the video is and I have to say, it’s a production worthy of notice.
The second endeavor of the BeatBurger Project, “Ace” is a stylized video which highlights the talents of both Taemin and the group of dancers accompanying him, who are (in case you’re wondering), Greg Hwang, Bucky, Monica, and Kasper. Being toted as a concept video, “Ace” is more about highlighting the talents of the artists involved in a new way, than anything else and I have to say, it does a pretty fantastic job. Shot on a clean set, with nothing to distract from the performance of Taemin and company, “Ace” is the perfect way to highlight Taemin’s skills as both a singer and dancer without overshadowing the talent of the others.
Combining the smooth R&B sound of “Ace” with equally enticing choreography, BeatBurger has brought us a video that soothes the soul while tantalizing the senses. If you haven’t bothered to take notice of Taemin’s solo work yet, now is the perfect time to do so and “Ace” is a wonderful place to start.
So tell me, what do you think of “Ace”? Do you prefer the song over the video or perhaps, is it the other way around? What do you think of the album as a whole? Do you have a favorite song? I always want to know what you’re thinking so be sure to leave me a comment below!
His voice has gotten better and better. He has so much more control than he did when he started out. I really like both the song and the video.
He really has improved so much over the years, I’m thoroughly impressed. I hope this album is the beginning of many great things to come!
