TUNE OF THE WEEK: T.O “Lie”

After a two-week deluge of K-Pop comebacks and debuts, this week has been relatively slow which is why I’ve decided to go back a couple of weeks and feature a fantastic song that kind of got lost in all of the holiday hullabaloo, T.O’s soulful contribution to the Unemployed Romance OST, “Lie.”

title

2For those of you who might be wondering who T.O is, he’s a member of Benjamin Entertainment and CMG Chorok Stars’ idol group, M.Pire, who made their debut in August of last year. Whether you’re familiar with M.Pire or not, there’s no denying T.O’s vocals are a force to be reckoned with, as evidenced in his single “Lie.”

4To me, “Lie” is the very definition of a power ballad; it’s the kind of song you want to turn up loud and listen to over and over and over again because it moves you in ways only a true power ballad can. There’s something about T.O’s voice, an incredible blend of emotion and power, that invokes an array of feelings every time you listen. As for the music, “Lie” is a pretty straightforward combination of acoustic verses rising into a powerful synth/rock chorus that draws you in and makes you beg for more.

3I wish I could tell you more about T.O (and M.Pire) for that matter but as of right now, all I can tell you is that it looks like M.Pire will be featured on Mnet’s Idol Battle on February 3 (A-Prince vs. M.Pire) and that they’re planning a comeback sometime in March. *Yay!*

So what do you think of “Lie,” T.O or M.Pire? I love talking K-Pop and I’d love to know what you think so be sure to leave me a comment or two below!
