TUNE OF THE WEEK: INFINITE “Bad”

title

I know INFINITE made their comeback with “Bad” last week but I was slightly sidetracked by a different comeback at the time so I didn’t have much time to squeal over INFINITE. But now that I’ve maybe… sorta… kinda… mellowed a bit… uh… Okay, that’s not at all true so we’re just gonna move along…  “Bad” really is a fantastic song and I just couldn’t let it go without saying something so I’m making it this week’s tune.

SunggyuThe title track off INFINITE’s new EP, Reality, “Bad” is a fascinating ballad-dance combination reminiscent of last year’s “Back.” However, rather than the slow build into that ever-so-fabulous dance vibe that kept me listening to “Back” for… well, forever… “Bad” keeps a haunting combination of both ballad and dance throughout, making this track so mind-blowing-ly awesome I find myself completely addicted. Again.

DongwooAdding to the amazing-ness of “Bad” is the video, a colorful yet creepy combination of broken mirrors, changing reflections, bleeding picture frames, stuffed deer, swinging light fixtures, and a creeper woman who is obviously the “Bad” girl this song is about. As we all know, I’m a sucker for anything even remotely creepy so watching INFINITE sing in a room that feels oddly like some sort of haunted mental institution, with walls that bleed and a wicked bad girl, pretty much seals the deal for me. (Just don’t ever ask me to visit such a place in real life. I may enjoy watching the creepy from time to time but I’m actually the world’s biggest chicken.) WoohyunI’m also a huge fan of the symbolism in this video, especially the wounded hand these boys sport. Not that I like watching the boys bleed (because I would NEVER want them to be hurt in real life!) I just like the symbolism of that hand. This physical representation of the holding onto something even when it hurts you is quite powerful (at least it struck me rather hard) and it’s a good reminder that sometimes letting things go is so much better for you than holding on to something (or someone) and suffering constant injury and pain.

LAs much as I enjoy watching the video, I’m a bit sad it doesn’t feature more of the choreography. Then again, if it did, I wouldn’t have any reason to watch their live performances… Oh who am I kidding? I ALWAYS watch INFINITE’s L… *swoon* No, wait. That’s not what I was saying! I always watch INFINITE’s live performances! Yeah, that’s it!

HoyaIf the original MV and the comeback stages still aren’t enough to satisfy your INFINITE craving, you have to check out the mind-blowing 360 version of “Bad.” I kid you not, the first time I watched it and played around with those buttons in the top left corner, I shrieked so loud people were wondering what was wrong with me. Holy flip, this version is awesome! I can almost guarantee other groups will be adding 360 versions to their MV lineup in the very near future. It’s just that cool!

SungyeolI’m obviously not completely unbiased when it comes to INFINITE so rather than ramble on for an eternity, I’d rather hear what you think of their latest comeback. Is “Bad” going to find a home on your summer playlist? Let me know in the comments below!
