Yeah… I know, I’m so predictable, choosing this song for this week’s tune but c’mon! This is GOT7 we’re talking about! GOT freaking 7! How could I talk about any other song when this one has topped my playlist all week long?
After much teasing on GOT7’s part (and much anticipation on mine) GOT7 made their comeback on Sunday (or it was Sunday here anyway) with their 5th EP, Flight Log: Departure and since that fateful moment, I feel as if I’ve died and gone to some sort of fangirl heaven. I’m just so happy to have my boys back! *squeeeeeeeee*
As happy as I am to have GOT7 back, I’ll admit that “Fly” took me a bit by surprise the first time I gave it a listen. It really wasn’t like anything I was expecting so I wasn’t sure what to think. I loved the concept (and I love the M!Countdown comeback stage even more… Those pink and gray ensembles are just… *siiigggghhhh*) but I really wasn’t sure what to think about the song or the MV, at least at first.
I think my biggest problem with my accepting “Fly” right away had to do with the fact that the MV itself didn’t live up to my expectations. I felt as if it featured the rap line above the vocals (which, let’s be honest, isn’t a bad thing at all) but me, being the vocal bias that I am, had a bit of a tough time accepting (what I felt was) a lack of JB & Youngjae closeups. Of course now that I’ve had time to reflect upon my initial reaction, I see that I was being rather silly (which isn’t a new concept for me, by any means). All I had to do to come to love this song was remove my bias blinders for a moment and look at things with a bit broader perspective and once I did, I easily fell in love.
I’m happy to say that I now love “Fly” just as much as I love every other GOT7 track. It really is a great song and so very GOT7 (which is fantastic) and the choreo is just so… Ugh! Being able to watch the choreo in its entirety has given me a whole new appreciation for this song. I know, I know, I shouldn’t let my love of great dancing cloud my judgment on the music but how can I not be swayed by these boys and their moves-o-death? I know, I’m weak-willed and pathetic but whatever. I have my boys back and that’s really all that matters.
Once again GOT7 has found a way to both capture my heart and stop it, all at the same time. I guess that’s why I love them so much. I mean if you’re gonna die, you might as well go happy, and I am so very, VERY happy! Of course I’m a crazy fangirl which means I’m totally, completely and forever biased so what I have to say means very little. However, I’d love to hear what you think of GOT7’s comeback. Have you fallen as much in love with “Fly” as I have? What about the rest of the album? Do you have a favorite track? You know I always love hearing from you so be sure to let me know what you’re thinking by leaving me a comment below!
