I have no doubt you all saw this one coming a mile away but c’mon! Can you blame me? BTS spent a flippin’ week building up all my hopes and expectations as I waited for the release of this music video and now that it’s here… ASDFGHJKL! SEE??? I’m so freaking excited about this video I can’t even find the words to express how I truly feel!
Promoted as a follow-up to BTS’ “I NEED U” promotions, “SICK” is everything I wanted it to be and then some. Breathing life into the gorgeous characters they created in their concept photos, the Bangtan Boys have totally outdone themselves with this one, slaying fangirls the world-over as they’ve transformed the stuff of fanfic fantasies into a living, breathing world so glorious it takes one’s breath away. (And don’t you even try to tell me there haven’t been about a gazillion fanfics inspired by these concept photos because I know better!)
The video is every bit as stunning as the concept photos that came before it. Brilliantly colored, cleverly costumed and intensely choreographed, “SICK” is just that… FRIGGIN’ SICK! When Jin said this was the fastest choreography he’d ever seen, he wasn’t lying! I mean have you watched the footwork of this dance? HOLY FLIP! I’d fall flat on my face two steps in and they make it look it’s as easy a walking! And the synchronization of the group as a whole is so on-point you have to wonder if they’re not operating on some sort of hive-mind because SERIOUSLY! How the heck can seven individuals be so ridiculously in-sync?
GOOD GRACIOUS BOYS! Can you please stop being so dang perfect? You’re giving me a complex!
As one of the nine tracks released on BTS’ most recent album, The Most Beautiful Moments in Life, Pt. 1, we already knew the lyrics for this song were friggin’ amazing. Taking on the always-fabulous BTS theme of “I’m me, I’m gonna rise to the top and ain’t nobody gonna get in my way”, “SICK” in one of those tracks that’s destined to be loved by all who hear it. It’s fast, it’s funky, it’s catchy as all get-out (Whoa! I must really be fangirl trippin’ if I’m pulling out the hillbilly slang!) and it’s just so darn fun I’ve had the dang song playing on ‘repeat’ for nearly two-months straight. (And no, that’s not an exaggeration!)
Personally, I think you’d have to be dead to not love this song but I’m so insanely biased when it comes to BTS there’s no telling what the general population thinks of “SICK”. Of course you could help me out on this one by letting me know what you think in the comments below!
