I know it’s been a couple of weeks since I last recorded one of these but that’s what happen when life decides to smack you upside the head. I’m doing my best to keep up with all of the general insanity that takes over this time of year but there are only so many hours in a day and just one me. (Which is probably a good thing, seeing as how I’m not sure how well the world would handle more than one me…) Despite all of the crazy in my world at the moment, I did manage to find a few spare minutes to sit down and ramble on a bit about a few dramas so here goes… Continue reading “Drama Ramblings with Zombie Mamma – Episode 6: Mermaids, Goblins and Squeals of Fangirl Delight”
TUESDAY’S TEASE: SEVENTEEN, UP10TION and Fantasy Dramas Galore!
I’m convinced the best way to fight off a cold is by overdosing on all things Hallyu. There’s really nothing better for the ailing fangirl than a solid day of drama watching and an overdose of K-Pop cuteness. (Or so I’ve been telling myself the past couple of days as I’ve laid on the couch willing my head not to explode…) Continue reading “TUESDAY’S TEASE: SEVENTEEN, UP10TION and Fantasy Dramas Galore!”
Drama Ramblings with Zombie Mamma – Episode 5: Chatting With Drama Debussie
This week my most awesome and amazing friend, India (aka Drama Debussie) joins me for another episode of Drama Ramblings. Being the seasoned drama watchers that we are, we had more than enough to ramble on about and had a marvelous time in the process. Care to join us?
As I’m sure you could tell, India and I had a lot of fun recording this week’s podcast and I really hope I can talk her into joining me again for more ramblings in the future. *fingers crossed*
If you’d like to know more about India, I can tell you that she’s “a longtime obsessor of Asian dramas. Since 2003, India has created drama focused content for the blog dramadebussie.com, exclusively creates content for the Drama Debussie YouTube channel, has been the creator and host of Kpopstarz’s series The K-Drama Morning After, and is currently the co-host of the Hallyu-based podcast Drama Kandy. She also overuses reaction gifs on her Twitter in hopes to share her love of dramas with other drama fans.”
You can always hear more from India by checking out her website, following her on Twitter, or by giving her podcast a listen on Soundcloud.
LET’S CHAT: Hallyu Journalist Lisa Espinosa Talks About Work, Dreams and Dealing With Life’s Curveballs
The world of American Hallyu experts and professionals is a beautiful place, full of amazing and interesting people. People who have dedicated a large portion of their time and energy to delivering unique, original and entertaining content to the world. People whose names you probably recognize but may not know much about. With so many incredible people bringing Hallyu to the world, I thought it might be fun to take some time to sit down and chat with some of them, to give you a chance to get to know a little more about those who help fuel the Hallyu fire that blazes so brightly, here in the States. My very good friend, Lisa Espinosa, from HanCinema and Raine’s Dichotomy (to name a few), is the first of these individuals I’d like to introduce to you. She was gracious enough to take time out of her busy schedule to chat with me for a bit about her work, how she got started in the Hallyu journalism business and what some of her favorite moments have been thus far. DRAMA OF THE MONTH: Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
Sitting down to write this review, I feel completely conflicted. Not because this drama isn’t fantastic (because it totally is) but because it’s also terrible and wonderful and amazing and awful and it makes you feel so many things and sometimes it’s wonderful and sometimes it hurts and sometimes you cry and sometimes you laugh and other times you swoon and all of the time you wonder how you’re ever going to find a way to go back to “normal” life because you know this drama has completely ruined you for all of eternity, in both the best and worse ways possible. Yeah… That pretty much sums up all of my feelings for Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Continue reading “DRAMA OF THE MONTH: Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo”
TUESDAY’S TEASE: EXO’s First Sub-Unit, Mermaids and the Whispered Promise of a BIGBANG Comeback
Tuesdays have suddenly become a favorite of mine, mostly because I get to sit here and squee over all of the upcoming K-Dramas and K-Pop comebacks I’m most looking forward to. It’s really a very exciting thing, scouring the internet for all of the goodies that come with comebacks and drama premiers, especially when you come up with a list full of personal favorites. (I feel like I’ve hit the fangirl jackpot or something!) Continue reading “TUESDAY’S TEASE: EXO’s First Sub-Unit, Mermaids and the Whispered Promise of a BIGBANG Comeback”
Drama Ramblings with Zombie Mamma – Episode 4: A Chat With Young Ajummah
This week my very good friend, Sara (aka Young Ajummah), was kind enough to join me in my drama ramblings. Together we talked our way through our favorite actors dramas and drama tropes as well as the dramas and tropes we just can’t stand. We also took a quick detour to talk about Gong Yoo and his most recent and wildly popular film, Train to Busan, during which I revealed one of my darkest and most ironic secrets. *cue dramatic music* Continue reading “Drama Ramblings with Zombie Mamma – Episode 4: A Chat With Young Ajummah”
TUESDAY’S TEASE: VIXX, BTS and the Death of a Zombie
You know, there have been a whole lot of K-Pop comebacks this past month and for the most part, I’ve survived them. But as we pass the midpoint of October, I’m beginning to wonder how much more of this incessant teasing I can endure. Continue reading “TUESDAY’S TEASE: VIXX, BTS and the Death of a Zombie”
Drama Ramblings with Zombie Mamma – Episode 3: It’s Complicated
Believe it or not, I’m back with yet another episode of Drama Ramblings. (Woohoo!) This week it seems like all of DramaLand has decided to focus on complicated relationships and frustrating me to no end, which gives me a whole lot of goodness to ramble on about. (Which in all honesty, kinda surprises me because in all honesty I’m a writer, not a talker so this whole talking to myself for an hour or so, while I record these podcasts, really makes me laugh.) As funny as I’m finding this whole podcasting adventure, I’m also rather enjoying it so let’s cut the chit-chat here and get to the good stuff already! Continue reading “Drama Ramblings with Zombie Mamma – Episode 3: It’s Complicated”
DRAMA OF THE MONTH: Cinderella and Four Knights
It’s been a little over a week since tvN’s latest take on the classic Cinderella tale, Cinderella and Four Knights, finished airing and I think I’ve finally reigned my emotions in enough to be able to talk about it without making a total mess of myself. Well, I’m hoping I can anyway… Though I suppose the only way to find out is to sit down and write… So… Here goes! Continue reading “DRAMA OF THE MONTH: Cinderella and Four Knights”
