SF9 and Girl’s Day Announced as First Two Artists For KCON 2017 LA

The world’s largest Korean culture convention and music festival, KCON USA, presented by Toyota, has recently started making artist announcements for KCON 2017 LA and wouldn’t you know it, I’m already freaking excited about this year’s event! Both SF9 and GIRL’S DAY were recently announced as the first two artists to join the Los Angeles edition of the worldwide event series and, OH MY GRACIOUS, I’m so stoked!

Since its launch in 2012, KCON has grown exponentially to become the undisputed epicenter for all things Hallyu. Taking over the Staples Center, the Los Angeles Convention Center and the surrounding entertainment district, this expansive event, which spans three days this year, is sure to be the place to be for Hallyu fans the world over. In addition to the star-studded concerts, fans in attendance will experience more panels (Woot! Woot!) and workshops than ever before, with offerings on everything from K-beauty and K-food to e-sports and K-drama.

One of the hottest rising boy groups in Korea, SF9 will be performing on the KCON 2017 LA stage, only 2 months after making their U.S. debut at KCON 2017 NY. Fan favorites GIRL’S DAY, on the other hand, are bringing their outstanding performance to the U.S. for the first time ever with their KCON 2017 LA debut.

I’ve already told you a bit about SF9, so I won’t go too much into them at the moment. What I will say is, I’m ridiculously excited about seeing them perform at KCON 2017 NY in a couple of weeks and even more excited that I’ll be able to enjoy seeing them again in LA later this summer! I mean one can never have too much Zuho in one’s life! *squee*

As for GIRL’S DAY, they were formed by Dream Tea Entertainment in 2010. The group currently consist of four members: Sojin, Minah, Yura, and Hyeri. The group debuted with their first EP, Girl’s Day Party #1, on July 9, 2010. After releasing their second and third EP, Everyday and Everyday 2 in 2012, Girl’s Day released their first full-length album, Expectation, on March 14, 2013. The title track “Expectation” became a huge success and was awarded the “Long-Run Song of the Year” award at the third Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards. They followed up with promoting the track “Female President,” which made it on Billboard’s “20 Best K-pop Songs of 2013.” In January 2014, the title track “Something” from their fourth EP, Everyday 3, became their highest-charting single, peaking at #2 on both Billboard’s Korea K-Pop Hot 100 and the Gaon Digital Chart. In March 2017, the group made a comeback with title track “I’ll Be Yours.” Their new EP, Everyday #5, debuted at No. 7 on Billboard’s World Albums chart; the music video on 1theK’s channel surpassed 2 million views in less than 24 hours.

For those of you planning to attend this year’s epic, 3-day convention, KCON 2017 LA tickets will go on sale at 10am (PST) on July 7. On the opposite side of the country, the New York metro area edition of KCON 2017 USA will be returning to the Prudential Center later this month (June 23 and 24). (And yes, I’ll be on panels at both! Woohoo!)
