You know, when I woke up this morning and realized I was up early enough to catch part of the 2014 MAMA broadcast live, I was pretty stoked. It’t not every day you get to settle in front of your computer with a cup of coffee and a slice of banana bread and watch so many of your favorite idols perform in one place and I thought to myself, “Oh, what a lovely way to start my day!” I should have known that the calm and peaceful morning I’d been expecting was never going to happen because, well, anything involving K-Pop generally ends in me spazzing.
So what was it, exactly, about this year’s MAMA that has me flipping like the spazzy fangirl I am? Well, I’ll show you…
When I first tuned in, INFINITE was killing the audience with this little gem…
and I should have just given up all hopes of sanity right then and there. I mean how can I be calm when L is right there!?! (The simple answer is, I can’t.)
Then EXO took the stage to accept their award for “Artist of the Year in Asia” and that shot of Tao, with those eyes… Oh crap! I very nearly fell out of my chair! Of course their performance didn’t help things either. Especially not when Kai did his solo dance…
*sobs* And of course, no matter how many times I watch EXO perform “Overdose” I will always swoon because… Well… Honestly, it’s because of Lay and Tao. There. I said it.
Moving on…
The next bit of MAMA to get me all fangirly was GD and Taeyang’s performance and for good reason! These two are flipping amazing performers and I love, love, LOVE watching them live!
And for good reason, right? RIGHT? That’s what I thought! Ugh! Those two! What am I going to do about them? They’re two of my very first K-Pop loves and they’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I admire them both so much. *sigh* (Of course the fact that I couldn’t stop watching “Good Boy” when it was released a couple of weeks ago, has nothing to do with my spazzing over this performance in the least!)
So that’s all of MAMA 2014 that I got to watch live but being the K-Pop crazed zombie that I am, I had to go back and watch all of the performances that I missed, especially those of Block B and BTS because, well, how could I not want to watch those? Stupid me! I should have just left those videos sitting on YouTube, un-watched and un-loved because… DANG IT!
Block B and BTS together!?! REALLY!?! How am I supposed to handle this? Between J-Hope’s dancing, Jimin’s… Jimin’s… ASDFJKL! Yeah, I don’t even know what to say about Jimin at the moment. The feels man! ALL THE FEELS! And we can’t forget V and Jungkook and Suga and Jin, all of whom successfully sent me into convulsions because they’re all TOO PERFECT FOR WORDS! Of course we can’t forget Zico and Rap Mon… Watching the two of them performing together on such a huge stage, knowing that at one point in their lives they were performing underground… It makes my heart so happy to see how far they’ve come and I’m overrun by all kinds of warm fuzzies. At least I was until P.O showed up in his fur coat and Jimin showed up in his fur coat and then all those warm fuzzies flew right out the window! Stinking boys!
In an attempt to calm myself down, I decided I’d go back and watch the individual performances of BTS and Block B (because that makes TOTAL sense) and well…
Yeah. That was so not a good idea! Again, all I can say is… ASDFJKL!
So, this year’s MAMA was all kinds of great. So much so that I’m trying to come up with a way to get myself to Hong Kong for next year’s awards because, seriously, I need to experience this epicness for myself at least once and I’d better do it while my heart is still young enough to handle it. Though if I’m honest with myself, my heart will never be strong enough to withstand the charms of K-Pop and all it has to offer. That’s why I’m a fangirl, and a spazzy one at that. My heart was made to love, it just wasn’t designed to handle all the feels. (At least not in any rational manner.) *sigh* After all of this MAMA excitement, I think I need to go calm myself down a bit. I see GOT7 has released a new dance practice video. Maybe that’ll work…
ASDFJKL! (or not)
