Musing of a Drama-Addicted, K-Pop Fangirl: HOLY CRAP, WHAT A WEEK!

IMGP7842

With my lack of posts over the past week or so, it’s been very obvious that I’ve been very much slacking on my blogging duties but in my defense, it’s not every day you get to celebrate your 15th wedding anniversary and it’s even less often you get to celebrate that anniversary in Cancun! With that being the case, I apologize for neglecting the world of Hallyu but really, I can’t say I’m super-duper sad because, well, I was in frickin’ Mexico!

Still, just because I was out trekking through the jungle to explore ancient Mayan ruins and snorkeling over coral reefs (Jeez, I sound like such a snob! Stop being so braggadocios Zombie, it’s not cool!) doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking a lot about my beloved dramas and music. Believe me, even in Mexico, the K-Pop is with me! (Just not the dramas, but only because there really isn’t good wi-fi in the jungle… Go figure!) Still, I was very anxious to get back to “normal” life (whatever that means) and I spent all of this past Saturday sprawled on the couch, catching up on all the dramas I’ve missed out on over the past week.

Rather than sit down and try to write a bunch of frantic reviews on dramas that are already well underway, I’ve decided to share a few random thoughts on the dramas I’ve been watching since my return. I’m not sure this will really work but I’ve decided to give it a try anyway. Mostly because I’ve really missed being able to chat with all of you about all the Dramaland craziness we all love.

So here we go… These are the dramas I’m most addicted to at the moment (in no particular order)…

MAB

My Amazing Boyfriend – I’m loving the chemistry between Kim Tae Hwan and Wu Qian so so much! He’s such a perfectly stoic ancient being and she’s such an adorable spazz, they make the most fun couple! I’m just gonna have to marathon these last few episodes so they’re all over at once and I don’t have to suffer endlessly. Kinda like ripping off a band-aid really fast, only not fast at all since it takes almost an hour to watch a single episodes… Well there goes that analogy!

OhHaeYoung19

Another Oh Hae Young – This one hooked me right away, mostly because it feels so unique. I’m not really sure I can remember a drama in which the male lead has psychic powers that allow him to see his interactions with a woman he knows nothing about and wants nothing to do with. The fact that this woman has the same name as his ex-girlfriend makes it even more interesting as their stories are eerily similar. They share a lot of the same pain and their fates are definitely crossed. I really can’t wait to watch how this potentially messy story unfolds.

mirrorwitch_11

Mirror of the Witch – I’m such a sucker for the dark and supernatural that it was a given I’d be watching this drama. I have to say, these first couple of episodes didn’t disappoint. Though I am a little curious as to why they cast such a young actress for the female lead, I can’t say it’s going to deter me from watching. My guess is there’s not going to be a lot of romance in this one seeing as how she and her brother are cursed. I’m afraid this may end up being another Romeo and Juliet but I’m a huge lover of Shakespeare so I’m totally okay with that. I just don’t know how I’ll deal with the death of Yoon Si Yoon, should it come to that.

MGON

Master: God of Noodles – I don’t normally go for dark revenge stories so I’m not really sure why I started watching this one but I did and now I’m hooked. I really want to know if Moo Myung is going to allow his desire for revenge to shape his entire life or if he’s going to overcome his hatred and find a way to move on. I’m not even going to make a guess on this one, I’m just going to sit back and watch the story unfold.

I’m also still trying to bring myself to watch the end of Madame Antoine and Moorim School but let’s face it, if I’ve gone this long without finishing, will I ever bring myself to do it? I’m not holding my breath.

ChocoBank

I also recently watched Choco Bank with EXO’s Kai (aka Kim Jong In) and I have to say, watching that little drama after swooning myself silly over that boy in person was almost too much for this poor zombie fangirl to handle. I was a ridiculous mess throughout the entire drama and I’m not even the least bit ashamed to admit that. After all, you already know I’m hopeless so why bother to try to convince you otherwise? lol

I know there are more dramas out there I should be watching but I’m still trying to get life back in order before I leave for Toronto (in 4 days…). Speaking of which…

TKC16all

Since I’ll be speaking at the Toronto K-Pop Convention this weekend, I’d love to know what you’re most interested in hearing about. I mean I could ramble on forever about my adventures while I’m there but I’m pretty sure you’re all more interested in the actual convention than anything I’m doing there. So what is it you’d like to know most about? Should I post videos while I’m there? (I’m trying to get that nifty blue check mark on my FB page so I can actually do live videos from the convention but we’ll see how well that goes…) Obviously any pics of idols I can get would be great but what else do you want to know/see/do/experience? I figure since I’m going you might as well live vicariously through me and experience it all as much for yourself as you can.

So that’s it for now. I’d love to know which dramas you think I should be watching. Are there any you’d like me to review? What about TKC16? What should I try to focus on while I’m there? (Other than my super awesome Plight of the International K-Pop Fan panel, that is. Which is only super awesome because there are other awesome people on it, not just me.) You know I always love hearing from you so be sure to leave me a comment below!
