HALLYU ZOMBIE DRAMA REVIEW: Bride of the Century Episodes 3-4 (1/2)

This show is starting to become extremely compelling. The mystery and the unexpected comedy balance everything to make a great show. And the kissing… we can’t forget the kissing!

I kind of feel bad for Yi Hyun. I think he’s totally confused about Doo Rim because he finds her attractive, yet she looks like his half-sister Yi Kyung. Doo Rim does have a very warm personality and is very caring towards him, so it is understandable of why he could get attached… especially since Yi Kyung has proven to be an ice queen of sorts so he never really had the feeling of having a little sister and being protective over her.

His confusion does allow for an odd jealousy factor between Yi Hyun and Kang Ju and it flared up a few times this week from the potential trampling situation at Kang In’s showcase to returning Doo Rim back to her home. Even Kang Ju has noted how affectionate she is for her “brother.”

I have to talk about the kissing. Usually k-dramas tend to have horrible kiss scenes, but we got two this week and they were actually pretty acceptable considering these two characters don’t really have much of a relationship yet. I did get a kick out of the kiss at the Monstar showcase… Kang Ju was please with himself. There was a visible smirk and a wink after he did it!

I want to know what the connection between Roo Mi and Kan In is! Even if they are childhood friends via Kang Ju, there is definitely something going on there. He was very insistent that she keep the hair pin that he bought for her birthday. Once he convinced her to try it on, there was total affection that even Doo Rim noticed. Kan In also makes special time to seek out Roo Mi even if he should be practicing.

Lastly, I knew Yi Kyung and her mother were up to no good. It seems the plan is to sacrifice Doo Rim as the first bride and then switch Yi Kyung back in without anyone noticing Doo Rim died. I’m really hoping that it does not happen because Doo Rim is such a better fit for Kang Ju in the long run… although at some point she’s going to have to tell Kang Ju that she isn’t actually Yi Kyung, just her doppleganger.

With our mischievous ghost floating around, what do you think is going to happen? Is someone going to discover Doo Rim is not the real Yi Kyung? Does Kang In have a crush on Roo Mi? Let me know what you think about this week’s episodes by commenting below!

  1. Hi there ZombieMamma!
Remember the scene where Doo Rim was meeting her friends and they asked her to call Kang Ju to join them? Roo Mi was so satisfied to see Doo Rim’s dissapointed face when Kang Ju said he was busy, but he did show up anyway. That face expression of Roo Mi was priceless… hahaha!
I love seeing Kang Ju being jealous over oppa. I think he doesn’t realize that he is already falling for Doo Rim. Seeing that he actually said “take care of her, hyungnim” when he sent her home from the hospital, I believe that means he’s sending a signal to oppa that “she is my fiancee and you will be my brother in law soon, so please act like one!”
I am soo loving Doo Rim’s character, she’s so cute and I could totally understand why Kang Ju would want to kiss her when she was wiping out the cream on her lips at the end of episode 4. Can’t wait to see what Doo Rim’s reaction on that kiss. Feeling like this week is moving toooo slow.
Looks like this drama has stolen all the attention I got for Emergency couple. Oh my, waiting for the English sub version would really kill me over this weekend… sigh!

    1. There is definitely some jealousy going on there when it comes to who is going to get Doo Rim’s affections. Kang Ju seems pretty determined to gain them for himself even though he’s still not completely certain of her. It’s going to make for a good conflict! I was also happy that Kang Ju showed up to the dinner! I was happy that he is continuing to show Roo Mi that it’s really not about her and he has his mind set on marriage because that’s what his parents want. I can’t wait for next week either! It’s going to drag on!

      1. Yup, that’s one thing I like about Kang Ju even though he is a such a cold hearted prince. I’m talking about how he draws the line for Roo Mi. I guess he never really has any romantic feelings towards Roo Mi, right? So it’s quite easy for him to tell her to stop liking him.
I wonder what would be the problem caused by Doo Rim’s friend in the next episode. It looks pretty serious in the preview, even Kang Ju is getting mad at Doo Rim. Poor Doo Rim, she just couldn’t help but being herself despite her acting as Yi Kyung, and that causes her trouble.

        1. It may cause her trouble but I think that being herself is going to be her redemption as well. Kang Ju would never fall for her if she acted like Yi Kyung… It’s the moments when Doo Rim is being completely herself that Kang Ju feels his heart flutter. Though it may get her in trouble more often than anyone would like, the fact that Doo Rim can relax around Kang Ju enough to be herself speaks volumes for where their relationship will go in the future. I have no doubt that Kang Ju will soon come to realize that the one person he needs the most in his life is the crazy Doo Rim he’s falling for right now. As for Roo Mi, she just needs to give up already. Kang Ju has made it perfectly clear, from the very beginning, that he has no feelings beyond friendship for Roo Mi and he never will… Especially not when Doo Rim is around to get him riled up in ways he never though possible. hehe Doo Rim, Fighting!

          1. Couldn’t agree more! **High Five!** It’s good that she is being herself around Kang Ju, the person that Kang Ju really falls for is Doo Rim. So later on when he finds out that she is not Yi Kyung, I hope he doesn’t get hurt too much coz Doo Rim is still Doo Rim, the one that he fell in love with… fighting Doo Rim!

          2. I still think something majorly traumatic is going to happen to Doo Rim right around the time Kang Ju learns her true identity and in that moment, he’s going to realize he cares more about Doo Rim than he cares about his own feelings. That’s the moment I’m hoping for because that’s the moment he’ll realize he can never be with anyone but her. *swoon* The very idea gives me goosebumps and I don’t even know if that’s really what’s going to happen. LOL!

  2. There’s a high possibility for that coz most of the Kdramas are quite predictable… but I guess that’s because the writers are writing for the viewers right? So they tend to write the story line to meet the viewers expectations. I’m ok with that as long as we get more swooning time… hihihi…
