Hallyu Zombie Drama Review: Bride of the Century Episodes 11-12 (1/2)

Welcome to another week of Bride of the Century! I spent 2 hours yelling at my screen over the stupidity and just ridiculousness I’ve seen with some of the characters and their actions. My mind is all over the place, but it’s mostly been anger so this will feel like a rant instead. I will extend my apologies ahead of time.

Am I the only one who wants to punch the screen whenever Yi Kyung shows up with that smirk? Yes, I know it’s the same actress (Yang Jin Sung) but still it’s a totally different character so I think my anger is justified. Did she really think that she could get away with living the rest of her life fooling Kang Ju? Granted, he probably wouldn’t have known had Roo Mi not told him (more on her later), but she acts completely different from the “Yi Kyung” he fell in love with. She hates soondae while Doo Rim loves it and she just cringed whenever he touches her. Seriously? He’s suppose to be your fiance and you’re getting all weirded out because he’s affectionate?

She realized how much he changed yet she’s still acting like a cold, ice princess (No relation to Sica) and expects this changed man to not notice any differences..at all. Then she’s really disrespectful towards Kang Ju’s mother which is very uncalled for. I love how her and Jae Ran swear like they have some valuable secret over the Choi family, but that still doesn’t give her the right to act the way she does. You were the ones who pulled a switch-a-roo on your fiance’s family then want to act like you didn’t do anything wrong or your wrongdoing was less than what they did.

One thing I do have to give Myung Hee is that she’s not murderous, only too believing in a curse that never existed in the first place. I know I was always so angry with her, but she knows when to stop and let thing pass before taking another move. This is what she has over Jae Ran who’s getting too greedy for her own good which will eventually be her downfall. If Yi Kyung doesn’t back out now, she’s going to be thrown under the bus or thrown out just like Yi Hyun was. Jae Ran seems to only care for herself right now and will not care who’s in her way.

I have to say that I am loving what the writers are doing with Roo Mi’s character. She started off really bitchy, to say the least, but once she gave on Kang Ju she really was done with all of that. Now she’s just his friend which is nice since he needs that right now, not someone keeping quiet for “his” benefit. She told him the truth and also warned him that things could get worse from here on out if he chooses to keep seeing Doo Rim, which is probably the beginning since Witch #1 is planning on releasing his secret wedding photos thus automatically making Yi Kyung publicly known as a part of the family and Taeyang Group. Ya’know since no one knows a doppelganger exists. I hope from here on out that Roo Mi will use whatever power she holds to bring Jae Ran and Yi Kyung down, she hates Yi Kyung anyways and has some respect for Doo Rim. So far, I really like what they did with her character and enjoyed seeing her throw shade at Yi Kyung while hinting about the switch.

Poor Kang Ju is so hurt especially now that he thinks Doo Rim is in love with Yi Hyun when he doesn’t even know half of it and poor Doo Rim is scared for her life. Literally. What I need to be done now is for all these misunderstandings to be over with by episode 14 so we can get them fighting for their relationship.

Nothing is going to change unless both of them are together striving for the same thing. Both are miserable and I know Kang Ju feels in his heart that Doo Rim’s actions were true, he just needs a good jolt and for someone to truly tell him how it is. That or he can see how she is whenever she sees him. So I say #KangJuGetDooRimBack..best hashtag ever.
