FRIDAY NIGHT DRAMA: To Be Continued

group 2I’ve got another mini-drama for you to sneak in during this overly busy time of year and this one features the six adorable boys of the K-pop group, ASTRO, which means there’s a whole lot of eye candy for you to indulge in! Happy Christmas to you!

back in school

Originally airing on Naver TVCast from August – September, To Be Continued is the story of an idol group who travels back in time on the night before their debut performance. Waking up to find themselves pre-debut and back in high school, the boys of ASTRO have to relive their past in order to ensure their bright future.

Rocky and Moonbin

There really isn’t a lot more to say about this drama as far as plot goes because really, that’s all there is to it. With the majority of this drama taking place in a high school setting, there has to be lots of teenage drama and a touch of romance thrown in for good measure, but that’s really all there is to this one. That’s not to say this drama isn’t worth watching, because it is, if for no other reason than having a legit excuse to familiarize yourself with the adorable members of Fantagio’s newest boy group. Seriously, the boys of ASTRO are so cute and if you have a weakness for dancers, you’re gonna fall hard for Rocky and Moonbin.  (Well, I know I did anyway.)

San Ha

I wish I could say I loved this drama as much as I loved the boys who starred in it but honestly, I just couldn’t get super into it. It was very dry and predictable and the only thing I really stuck around for were the random numbers performed by ASTRO. When it came to the time-traveling thing, I just couldn’t figure out why they traveled back in time when it didn’t really change anything in the future. I could only really find one difference between the first future and the altered second future and it wasn’t anything really significant. In all honesty I walked away from this drama more confused than anything but I decided I didn’t care as I now have another idol group to follow. (As if I didn’t have enough already…)

If you’re looking for a quick, cute-ish drama to sneak in as you scurry back and forth between all those holiday celebrations (or to keep you entertained as you wait in those ridiculously long lines at the store), you can’t really go wrong with To Be Continued. It’s short, it’s easy to follow and the boys of ASTRO are sure to brighten up even the most boring of holiday parties. Just lock yourself in the bathroom and watch away! On second thought, that might not be the best idea. I suppose you could always do what I do and just sit, unobserved, on one end of the couch and watch while everyone else in the room happily chats away. That’s one of the advantages of being “the quiet one,” you can activate your chameleon powers and never be noticed by anyone. Woohoo! (Can you tell I don’t like parties? I know, I’m lame. But I’m okay with that.)

ASTRO

Whatever your plans are for this holiday season (sneaking away to watch dramas or otherwise), I hope you have fun and if you do happen to take the time to watch To Be Continued, I’d love to know what you think. Did you enjoy it? Did you ever figure out the purpose of the time traveling? Did you find an ASTRO bias? (Wanna guess who mine is?) You know I always love hearing from you so be sure to leave me all sorts of comments below! (Even if you don’t want to talk dramas, I can chat about pretty much anything. Just not at parties… Man, I’m so weird!)

  1. Yes! I have a bias! MJ ~ He’s a playboy, but he’s also so cute at it. I surprisingly loved this mini-drama. I thought it would be a cliche story, but what surprised me was that the boys started to lose their memory one by one (though I’m still not sure what exactly was the reason) and why our main female lead, Jun Ah Rin, travelled back three times. Actually, plot-wise, there’s a lot of unresolved matters, but you make good points as the future is the same, more of less. Poor MJ and his crush.
Oh, Eunwoo, looks so much like a Korean version of Luhan. :S I keep doing double-takes.
I’ll just take the whole drama as it is: fun!

    1. Yes, plot-holes abound in this one which is probably why so much of it doesn’t make any sense. Why did they go back in time? Why did they start to lose their memories? Why did Ah Rin go back 3 times? Did she keep messing things up? Was there some issue she was supposed to resolve? I couldn’t figure any of that out. The only difference between the original future and the altered future was Moonbin getting MJ’s girl. (Not that she was really his girl, he just wanted her to be.) There was a lot I just didn’t get but the boys of ASTRO were so cute, I loved it anyway.
