If you’re one of those who waits for the end of a currently airing drama so you can marathon the entire show in one, go you’re in luck because this week brought us the end of, what has to be, one of the best K-Dramas I have ever watched, SBS’s sci-fi/romantic drama, My Love From Another Star.
Starring Kim Soo Hyun and Jeon Ji Hyun, My Love From Another Star has one of the most refreshingly original story-lines I’ve ever encountered, in all of my DramaLand wanderings. Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) is a super-powered extraterrestrial who has spent the past 400 years, stuck on Earth, doing nothing more than surviving as he awaits the return of the comet that will take him home. Learning, very early on, that helping those in need and falling in love only leads to hardship and heartache, Min Joon swears off any sort of human interaction, beyond what’s necessary for survival. As the final three months of Min Joon’s time on Earth begins, he suddenly finds himself face-to-face with a woman who reminds him of the only woman he’s ever loved, the country’s most famous actress, Cheon Song Yi (Jeon Ji Hyun). Against his better judgment, Min Joon finds himself falling for Song Yi and before he realizes what’s happened, he’s caught up in a whole world of crazy as Song Yi uncovers a dark secret that marks her as the next target of Lee Jae Kyung, the incredibly terrifying chaebol heir who will top at nothing to keep his sinister dark side a secret.
If you’re looking for a drama with an engaging plot line, multi-dimensional and highly lovable characters, a refreshingly realistic romance, with just enough snippets of history and comedy to make things interesting, topped off with a little science-fiction/super-hero awesomeness… In short, if you’re looking for an amazing drama, unlike any other, that will keep you hitting the “next episode” button right up until the end, My Love From Another Star is the drama for you! Trust me on this one, I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
