This week’s drama to marathon is easily one of the most fun dramas I’ve watched in a long time. I laughed my way through this entire drama and squeed myself silly (okay, silly-er) in the process. I actually had so much fun watching this drama, I couldn’t stop and ended up marathoning the entire thing myself. (Note to Self: Marathoning a drama is fine but squeeing loudly over biases at 2 AM is not advised when tiny zombies are sleeping nearby…)
Originally airing as a web drama on Naver TV Cast, High End Crush is the story of an entertainment industry CEO, Choi Se Hoon (Jung Il Woo), who falls in love with a woman he meets completely by accident. In a desperate attempt to salvage a photo shoot after one of his company’s idols runs away, Yoo Yi Ryung (Jin Se Yun) is dragged into the studio and forced to model for the shoot while the idol, Min Joo (Yoon Bo Ra), is hunted down. Under the dazzle of the lights and camera flashes, Se Hoon is immediately smitten with Yi Ryung and decides the best way to keep her by his side is to make her a trainee in his company. Offering her the chance of a lifetime, Se Hoon expect Yi Ryung to fall at his feet with gratitude but she doesn’t. In fact, she wants nothing to do with him. All sorts of shenanigans ensue as Se Hoon attempts to pursue Yi Ryung on a professional level but she’s not easily swayed. Never one to back down from a challenge, Se Hoon sets out to make Yi Ryung a part of his company, completely unaware that he’s offering her his heart in the process.
I have to say, out of all the romantic comedies I’ve watched in my lifetime, this is one of the few that actually sticks to the comedy part throughout. Choi Se Hoon is a hilarious leading man and Yi Ryung is able to match his strides with ease. The two make an entertaining pair and I love the chemistry between them. The fact Se Hoon has never been in love before makes the entire story so much more fun to watch because he can’t figure out why the heck he’s acting like a fool anytime Yi Ryung is around. Things get even more interesting when Se Hoon starts to experience pangs of jealousy brought on by Yi Ryung’s interaction with the adorable boys of one of his company’s hottest idol group, which just so happens to be played by Monsta X. Yes, that’s right. Monsta X appears randomly throughout the drama and their cuteness combined with Jung Il Woo’s was almost too much for me to handle. (Hence the squeeing at 2 in the morning…)
If you’re looking for a drama that’s quick to watch, full of cute boys and is just a whole lot of fun, you really can’t go wrong with High End Crush. It may be a bit ridiculous at times but who doesn’t love a bit of light-hearted nonsense every now and then? As I said earlier, I ended up loving this drama so much I had to watch the entire thing in one go and I really think you’re gonna love it too. Of course once you’ve watched it (or if you’ve already seen it), I want to know what you think so be sure to leave me a comment below!
Choi Se Hoon is adorable in this. His facial expressions are hysterical as he flip flops back and forth between demanding tyrant and crying hopeless romantic. Yi Ryung plays a sweet country girl so well, and I’m not surprised that everyone she meets falls in love with her – including MonstaX!!! What a treat to see them in this drama. They are so darn cute.
This was fun from beginning to end. I loved it.
