This week brought with it the end of one of the best K-dramas I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching, CSTV’s Bride of the Century which means, for those of you who’ve been waiting for the end so you could marathon the entire drama in one go, now is the perfect time to start!
Starring Lee Hong Ki (Choi Kang Ju) and Yang Jin Sung (Na Doo Rim/Yang Yi Kyung), Bride of the Century is the story of a century old family curse and one girl brave enough to love despite the fact it may cost her her life. Sounds interesting, right? That’s because it is! Seriously, this drama is so good, you’re going to be hooked after the first episode and you’re going to be thanking your lucky stars you waited until it had finished airing before you started watching it because you’re not going to want to stop until you’ve watched all sixteen episodes. It’s that good.
Because I don’t want to ruin anything for you, I’m not going to say much about the plot, just know that it’s got enough twists and turns to keep you intrigued and enough originality to keep things unpredictable. When you add to that the adorableness of Lee Hong Ki and the surprising talent of Yang Jin Sung, you’ve got yourself a drama worth watching! Of course, if while you’re watching, you feel the need to discuss the ins and outs of this ridiculously addictive drama, you can always join me in the Hallyu Zombie Drama Review my friends and I did of this drama. Even though it’s over, I’m still happy more than happy to chat about what has quickly become one of my all-time favorite dramas.
Yes, I was majorly surprised at what a great drama Bride of the Century turned out to be. It was definitely not a clique story and even though it had possible ridiculous story lines, I still enjoyed the drama very much. In the second last episode when Doo Rim was standing on top of the hill, I cried like crazy. I finished the drama and I also believe it’s a definite recommendation. Hong Ki and Yang Jin Sung make a cute couple!
Yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed this one! I think it’s one of the better dramas I’ve watched in a long time and I just loved Hong Ki! I think he nailed his role and Yang Jin Sung really impressed me with her ability to pull off so many roles! Yes, the story was a little ridiculous at times but at the same time, it kept me guessing so much of the time, I found myself completely hooked! I loved not being able to predict what was going to happen next! It was such a nice change of pace! I really hope Hong Ki can find the time to take on another drama in the future because I really really enjoy watching him on screen and his contributions to the OST are always fabulous! 🙂
Yes, Hong Ki did a great job playing such a mature and responsible man. I never imagined that he had this quiet side to him. As for Yang Jin Sung, I never thought twice about her since she was a side character on City Hunter, but she has quite a range of acting skills as well. I would definitely want to see both actors again sometime. I think the story of Bride of the Century came together beautifully. I’m reading all the other Bride of the Century posts right now on your blog.
Wow! That’s pretty much the highest form of praise I can think of! Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of our past posts! You’re awesome! As for Bride of the Century I think it’s one of the best dramas of the year (certainly on par with My Love From Another Star which was my other favorite so far) and I’m hoping that everyone involved with it gets the recognition and credit they deserve. I thought Bride of the Century was absolutely fantastic and I think everyone involved in its production (both on-screen and off) did a fabulous job in delivering us a drama that was really a treat to watch.
I’m currently on “Three Days” and that drama is pretty awesome too. I’m almost at the edge of my seat. It’s also becoming one of the best dramas of the year for me.
Oooh! Thanks for the tip! I’m gonna have to check that one out now!
I started to watch it just because of the Hong Ki – I do love his voice. I watched him in Secret garden but didn’t really like Jeremi somehow so now my friend praised him in this drama so I gave it a chance and I liked it. Even though that I didn’t really like the girl, especially at first, then I got used to her. So in overall I should say that I enjoyed it.
